JFK without the ideas

Recently Sen. Ted Kennedy has endorced Sen. Barack Obama. What a shot! After a couple glasses of vodka Ted thought Obama was just a different color JFK. That may be true in one department, but not in the department that really matters. After watching the past Democratic primary, it is quite obvious how Barack has risen to this position. He has the energy and carisma of the late JFK. Having not been alive during his time, but having seen video, read text, and discussed with people about this, I have come to grasp some idea of JFK. Looking at Barack i can understand the comparison in that department. But that is where it stops. Watching the last debate it is quite obvous that Barack does not have the ideas, leadership, nor experience to be the Democratic candidate. Believe me, and those who know me, I am in no way shape or form a Clinton supporter, but the comparrison is undeniable. Those who are following the Barack sharade, are being lured in by slick talking, energetic rallies and speaches, and the not so occasional cheasy cheap shot at whatever Republican candidate comes up . But all of this is indicitive of what the Republican race has become. At more points than most it has been a battle of one upsmanship. Whether it be race, sex, or"charitable" beginnings, the democrats have belittled themselves to a race about what sounds or looks nice. Personally, if it is going to be a Democratic president ( oh god i hope not) I would like it to be someone who at least has a focus on ideas and the good of the country, and not someone that is caught up in the glam of the public spotlight.

Middle of the road isn't good enough.... Edwards puched out by Media

John Edwards is DONE. Most who follow this year's race have forseen this since the onset of the Soutch Carolina primary. Being one that sits on the political fence, i am sad to see him go. Fortunately he is yougn enough to make another couple of runs, but after this year's disappointment who knows. Being a good southern man, and seeing his concern for working people of South Carolina, it was hard not to be captivated by Edwards. With the '04 campaign success there was much hope for John, but unfortunately he was a pawn in the democratic party to the King and Queen that is Hilary and Obama. The democrats didn't like him cause of his Dixie-crat vibe, and the Republicans don't like him because, well, he's a Democrat. If bipartisanship is what the country is after, why are supporting candidates that take their political views to extremes. Sorry Hilary but this is not meant to be a socialists country. The only way anything can be accomplished in today's America is with a bipartisan leader with fresh ideas and understands the need to work with both sides and not simply be the figure head for their parties agenda. Personally I was saddened on a regular basis to see the daily attention that the media gave to Hilary and Obama. But what else would you expect from the liberally biased media. Even the major GOP candidates can't get half the exposure of the Democratic two headed monster. And John Edwards couldn't even half the time of the GOP. So it was a emense uphill battle for Edwards. I perosnally hope that he does not end up playing second fiddle as a VP candidate, which is highly unlikely. Most people will see Edwards's exit as a forseen event with little consiquence, but I on the other hand will view it as a loss of person who may have had the right ideas and concerns for a country in need of strong confident leader. So at this point i will shift my thoughts to whom i wish to vote for now... Odds are it will be a Republican, because i feel that the two Dem. candidates are two focused on personal glory and not the agenda of a country in need.

I have posted a story that many in the Commonwealth of Virginia, and after today's exposure on ABC's Good Morning America, across the nation have become aware of. For those of you too lazy to read the story i will provide some background. A 36 year old woman was acquitted on involuntary manslaughter after leaving her 9 month old child in her car for 7 1/2 hours. You may pick up other details through out my post or via the story.

Personally, this is mind boggling to me that the city of Charlottesville has let this woman off the hook. When she conceived this child she was the protectorate and provider for this child. The aforementioned woman, Raelyn Balfour, was clearly guilty on grounds of reckless endangerment. Much of her defense relied on sympathy, deceit, and cover up. Her "excuse", if there ever could be one, is that she "thought" she had dropped the child off at the babysitter. HA! Who is she kidding?! This child should be the center of your world and you "forgot" about dropping him off at the babysitter. Unreal. The emotionally charged trial, most of which provided by the defendant, was put to Jerry Springer status with the addition of her "timely" pregnancy. The fact that this woman is procreating again, is in a way disturbing. She FORGOT her child and so she has decided, "oh I'll just get a new one." Sorry lady its not a replacement toy from Toys-R-Us... This is a human being.... The reason the pregnancy plays in this situation is the effect on the jury. A jury is going to be much less likely convicted a "grieving pregnant woman" than an ordinary person. Which may have been the premise behind bringing down the original charge from 2nd degree manslaughter to involuntary.

Finally, it ultimately falls on our justice system. This is a system that was manipulated by a crying pregnancy woman and a hot shot lawyer from northern VA. Oh by the way, who's legal fees have been rumored to be in the area of $50,000. So in retrospect, the prosecution in this case was fighting a uphill battle something close to Mt. Everest. People need not be swayed by the flashy lawyers and sobbing mess that transpired in this trial. As a society we have become all to politically correct and sympathetic when it comes to matters of stupidity and responsibility. Getting a second chance for an honest mistake is one thing, but to be let off the hook scot free (well $50,000 worth of free) for forgetting your child because you had a 30 min. phone conversation on the way to work is far from excusable. And the laughing matter of it all is that this woman is going to "dedicate her life to teaching others about the dangers of leaving you child in a car." Haha. Well thanks a lot there. You know if you hadn't told me about that, I was gonna drive to Florida and lay by the beach while my baby to cook in the car. Good gosh almighty, if you need someone to TELL YOU that you shouldn't leave your child in the car, well honey it doesn't seem like you should be having children.
